Setup: Define job and client
Provide: [CLIENT NAME] [CLIENT ROLE (homeowner/PM/architect)] [CONTACT DETAILS] [SITE ADDRESS] [JOB TITLE] [JOB TYPE/TRADE (e.g., electrical, plumbing, roofing)] [WORK SUMMARY IN ONE PARAGRAPH] [WORKING HOURS & ACCESS (keys, alarms, neighbours)] [YOUR CREW & SKILL MIX] [PREFERRED UNITS (e.g., mm/m, m2, m3, LM, qty)] [TARGET START/FINISH WINDOWS] [KNOWN RISKS/CONSTRAINTS (easements, heritage, asbestos, heights)] [YOUR BASE RATES SOURCE (own rate book/date)] [GST STATUS (registered/not)] [NOTES/PHOTOS LINKS].
Act as a NZ tradie estimator and turn rough info into a tight Job Profile that sets clear scope, units, and pricing context.
Work through it like this:
1) Clarify the client, site and job intent in plain terms (what’s being delivered and why). 2) Define the working footprint: spaces/areas affected, access, hours, site rules. 3) Set the measurement system and conventions from your preferences (units, rounding, typical measure sources). 4) Summarise crew capabilities relevant to this job and any plant you typically use. 5) Capture time windows and sequencing constraints that affect productivity. 6) List known risks and assumptions to be tested later, plus where your base rates come from.
Give me the output as: Job Profile with sections: A) Client & Site, B) Job Intent & Deliverables, C) Measurement Conventions, D) Crew & Resources, E) Timeframes, F) Risks & Assumptions, G) Pricing Context (base rates source, GST status). Include a one-line Job Tag for later linking.
Quality bar: Specific, measurable, and site-referable; no jargon or fluff; nothing implied.
If any field is missing or unclear, mark MISSING and list targeted questions needed to complete the Job Profile.
A real worked example.
This is the kit's own example output, unedited, for a 12 m timber boundary fence in Christchurch. The inputs were: remove the old 1.2 m fence, install new 1.5 m palings on H4 posts at 2.4 m centres, slightly sloped ground, labour $72/hr, materials at trade, $120 tipper load.
Quote: Boundary Fence Replacement · Client: S. Ng · Job Ref: FEN-118
Scope of work 1. Remove and dispose of approx. 12 m of existing fence. 2. Supply and install 1.5 m timber paling fence, H4 posts @ 2.4 m centres, rails and palings installed plumb and level to slope.
Inclusions/exclusions Includes 1 tip run. Excludes survey/peg relocation and underground service locating.
We checked the maths. $864 is 12 hours at $72/hr. Labour, materials and disposal come to $2,164, and 5% of that is $108.20, rounded to $108. $2,164 + $108 = $2,272.
Is it worth it? At NZ$24.50, the kit costs about 20 minutes of labour at the $72/hr rate in this example. If it saves you that much time writing one quote, or stops you leaving out disposal or a contingency, it has paid for itself.
Limitations. This is one sample, not your price: the figures come from the rates and notes you put in. Materials appear as a single allowance, not an itemised list. The quote says "incl. GST" but has no separate GST line, so check whether your hourly rate includes GST. The AI doesn't look up live timber prices or check council, survey or service-location rules, so check every figure before you send it.

WHAT IT WON'T DO
This kit doesn’t replace a licensed quantity surveyor, engineer, or compliance specialist; accuracy depends on your inputs, and seek professional advice for structural design, compliance sign-offs, or complex multi-trade tenders.
